At first glance Grubster seems to be an interesting lure. It reminded me of similar soft baits, their advantages and efficacy, and I came to the conclusion that it is good to have it. The first thing that strikes the eye is a wide range of colors that allows you to adjust the bait to any fish, water and weather condition. That is why it should be in a tackle box of each spinning angler. Grubster is available in the length of 7 cm that enables to attract a wide-variety of fish from basses, pikes, zanders and catfish. The shape and size of this bait is very similar to popular lures of other brands but in my opinion Grubster has the edge over them. First of all the above-mentioned range of colors. But the body has other advantages that are worth mentioning. Thickened front part of the soft bait that is narrowing downward allows the bait to work much better among plants. When fishing for zander lurking in deep waters, using over 20 g soft bait, Grubster has a subtle action until it hits the bottom. It is then when an active paddle tail is full of erratic action, which is very effective. Even lazy predators will not be indifferent to such a maneuver. Soft baits Grubster that is lightly rigged works slower and much more broadly. Dropping the soft bait is not the only method of leading the soft bait. Even seemingly boring, pulling the bait in an even way, makes Grubster work perfectly without interruption, even in a heavy current of the river. The soft baits can be rigged on standard jig heads but rigging them on „Stand up” jig heads make them work in an interesting way. The optimal size of the hook is 3/0, but it is possible to remove the front part of the soft bait and to use a 2/0 hook to rig it. Removing the front part may result in hindering the aggressive action of the bait, which is significant in early spring when the predators do not like the aggressively working baits. As for me, Grubster is so effective that I often don’t need to reach for something else.*
